Fodder Farming in Sibangani Village!
At Sibangani Village in Ward 1 of Nkayi District, we had the pleasure of meeting dedicated fodder farmers who are growing lab-lab (Lablab purpureus) — a resilient, nutritious crop that's helping to feed their livestock and improve productivity. They managed to avoid poverty deaths in 2024 through fodder farming, they also produce velvet bean, sunhemp and sunflower.
Their efforts are not only supporting animal health but also building climate resilience and food security at household level.
After the visit, we shared a hearty traditional meal of Umxhanxa and Inkobe — a beautiful reminder that agriculture nourishes both animals and people.
A big salute to these forward-thinking farmers for leading the way in sustainable practices!
